Sydfix: Six Months

Syd is half a year old!! Where does time go?

Six month brings us solids!  Syd had her six month visit on 4/18 and we got the "all clear" to start feeding her. It's pretty crazy to think that I was 100% sustaining her up until this point.  Now Joe's taking his turn at providing her nutrition.  He's using "Top 100 Baby Purees" for inspiration.  Her menu (in order) thus far has been:
1. Carrots
2. Avocado
3. Sweet Potato*
4. Sweet Potato & Broccoli
5. Apples, Pears, & Cinnamon
6. Sweet Potato, Carrot, and Parsnip

* This is where things took off and Syd figured out how to eat.

It's been so much fun to have dinner with her.  I love watching her face whenever she tries something new. We'll see how she handles what's in store next - rutabagas!

Syd is also as mobile as she can be without crawling yet. She wants to crawl so much, but she hasn't quite figured out how to coordinate her arms and legs.  She will roll all over the place to get what she wants. We also often find her in odd positions in her crib. The other day we found her turned around in her crib, grabbing one of the slats. Goofball.

Sydfix: Five Months!

Happy five months, Sydney! You have really transitioned into such a happy girl.  We can't get enough of your smiles and giggles.

We still call you a plethora of nicknames including, but not limited to: Squiddles, Squiddle-bear, Squid-monster, LMSP (Little Miss Squiddle Pants) Your mom's co-workers actually found a purple squid for you! Its legs are super tasty.
You are generally sleeping thru the night, though you often have us get up to put your pacifier back in. I, on the other hand, still get up every 4-5 hours to ensure you have enough food to eat. You still sleep in your Rock'N'Play, but you are slowly transitioning to your crib. And by that, I mean hopefully we remember we put you in your crib for 1 nap per day.
You're doing great with Sam and June. They basically want to be everywhere you are.

Your family loves you so much. You have been able to spend many weekends with your Dallas grandparents.  Your Blanco grandparents come and visit nearly every week. And your Aunt Amy comes to visit whenever she can.  You also have plenty of friends that visit too.

Speaking of being loved, you are very much your Daddy's girl.  The bond between you both is the cutest thing ever. One of my favorite things is watching you trying to find where your dad's voice is coming from.

I try to get in on the action, too!

We try to get you out of the house every day.  If the weather is nice, we take you for a hike on the trails behind the house, or we put out a blanket in the yard.

You also love your exersaucer. (Thanks Aunt Laura!)
It has been such a fun past five months with you, little girl.  Happy fifth month birthday - we love you more and more every day!

Thanskgiving 2015

This year's Thanksgiving marked a combination of old and new traditions.  Syd's first Thanksgiving! First Thanksgiving on our new house!

Despite the weather, my dad and I embarked on our 11th or 12th annual Turkey Trot.  Most years we try to do a sanctioned race course, but this year we created our own trot in the neighborhood.  We made it ~2 miles before Joe had to pick Syd up because it was raining, and then managed to complete another mile with the pups.  Yay for Syd's first Trot!
Syd did her best to represent the holiday - Gobble til you Wobble!
I'm so thankful for this little family of mine!
It's been an amazing year... and I am filled with gratitude.  More on that in another post!

Koala Time

When Joe and I found out that we would not be able to move back home before Sydney was born, the thing that most disappointed me was not getting her nursery ready. Ironically, now that we are at home, she barely goes in her nursery anyway except for diaper changes. TMI? Well, we're trying to change that, but it's a process.

I've had the vision for her room since early summer. For the main koala theme, I ordered a wall decal from Etsy many months ago. Now that we are back home, we are finally putting her nursery together. This means it's koala time!!! Who knew that the adorable wall decals on Etsy were so much work? It took three people (thanks D!) and three hours... but the final result is awesome. I love it, and i hope Sydney does too!

But wait... there's more!!! Joe and I also selected these adorable Koala prints from Etsy that have the lyrics to "You are My Sunshine." We may or may not have sang this song to her many times a day while she incubated.

Lastly, I made a little koala mobile with leftover koalas from the baby shower.  (Thanks Angie, Lauren, Amy & Brie!)

Six Week SydFix

Today is Syd's 6 week birthday, and time is flying!  Here are some pics from the past few weeks documenting our little skittle. As you can see, we've had many "exciting" adventures from playing dress up, to hanging out at Starbucks, to spending time in her swing and on top of her dad, to just generally being adorable.

It's settled, I'm keeping her!
